My Experience
Star Wars was one of those movies as a child that I could watch over and over again from lightsaber battles, to space ships and explosions, what wasn’t to love. While a game I picked up in my later collecting its great to spend some time on a classic side scrolling platformer playing as some of my favourite characters on the move.
About
The game follows closely the events of A New Hope. Luke Skywalker has to pilot a landspeeder around Tatooine, collecting various characters along the way including, R2-D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Han Solo, while fighting enemies including stormtroopers and sand people amongst others. After gathering all the characters the play then flies the Millennium Falcon through an asteroid field to the Death Star. On the Death Star, the player needs to destroy the tractor beam generator, rescue Princess Leia and finally destroy the Death Star with the rebel fighters.
This game was developed by NMS Software and published by Capcom in the US (1992) and Ubisoft in the EU (1993). Later Nintendo re-released the games in the US and EU in 1996 and 1997 respectively. Additionally Limited Run Games released a standard and collectors edition set in 2019.
