My Experience

Pokémon Red was my first entry into handheld gaming on an atomic purple gameboy colour. From choosing your starter to exploring the routes catching new pokémon on your journey to help you collect the eight badges and eventually beat the eilte four! Many AA batteries were burnt through on family holidays be it in the car, on the plane or around the pool.

Pokémon is probably the franchise which I’ve continue to collect, watch and play during my life dipping in and out of others and Pokémon is probably the only reason I’ve had or now have the whole range of nintendo consoles with main line or additional Pokémon games on them.

About

Pokémon Red Version (along side Pokémon Blue Version) were in Europe on October 5, 1999. These release of these games followed the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in 1996. Alongside the swap from Green to Blue for the releases outside Japan, Pokémon Red and Blue also had a number of differences from the original Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green with changes to the sprites, story script and general graphics more aligning the games with the Japanese Pokémon Blue release.
